Certificate

We choose to certificate our opening sequence as a 15 it is currently defined as passed only for persons of fifteen years and over. No person apparently under the age if 15 years shall be admitted to any exhibition at which there is to be shown any film which has received a 15 certificate from the British board of film classification. We gave our film the classification of 15 because there my involve song strong language and violence throughout the film, if we was to finish filming. Also there may be some psychological factors that someone under 15 may not only find hard to understand but may find disturbing.

In a film that has been classified for viewers over the age of 15 there are boundaries that the distributed had to think carefully about, so we had to make sure we did not break this boundaries in the filming we done so that we could keep the 15 certificate.

Theme: No theme is prohibited, provided the treatment is appropriate to 15 year olds. Language: There may be frequent use of strong language; the strongest terms are only rarely acceptable. Continued aggressive use of strong language and sexual abuse is unacceptable. Nudity: There are no constraints on nudity in a non-sexual or educational context. Sex: Sexual activity and nudity may be portrayed but without strong detail. The depiction of casual sex should be handled responsibly. There may be occasional strong verbal references to sexual behaviour. Violence: Violence may be strong but may not dwell on the infliction of pain, and of injuries. Scenes of sexual violence must be discreet and brief. Imitable techniques: Dangerous combat techniques such as ear claps, head-butts and blows to the neck are unlikely to be acceptable. There may be no emphasis on the use of easily accessible lethal weapons (in particular, knives). Horror: Sustained or detailed infliction of pain or injury is unacceptable. Drugs: Drug taking may be shown but clear instructive detail is unacceptable. The film as a whole must not promote or encourage drug use.

We when to headingham where we got permission to film in a friends wood. We wanted footage in a wood to use as flashback. We could easily portray this by simply changing the footage to black and white. We filmed many different shots, at different angles and different ideas. We planned the sort of shots we wanted before hand, however it was down to what the weather was like while at the location, as to whether it would be effective.

Having seen the footage we are happy with what we have produced. It looks alot better and more professional in black and white, and now we need to cut it up and edit it allowing it to fit and flow with the other footage we have.
1 . In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products.
Throughout our project we have developed our understanding of the software we use to make our thriller and more about the procedures in the film industry. We appreciate more the challenge involved in making our thriller look realistic and professional.

2. How does your media product represent particular social groups?
Our thriller doesn't focus or portray a particular social group.

3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
I believe the thriller could be released in cinemas, as there is a big audience for these types of films. Our main inspiration in was "The Eye" which did well in cinemas. The production company of this film was
and the it won 2 awards. This shows that the film could have the potential to do well if marketed correctly.

4. Who would be the audience for your media product?
We decided our thriller would fit under the certificate of a 15 certificate. Violence may be moderate and Strong language may be used, however if we chose not to use the strong laugage then it could be a 12.

5. How did you attract/address your audience?
Depending on the chosen certificate it would be suitable for a wide range of people aged 12 to adults. The aim of the opening sequence was to leave the audience with many questions drawing them in the watch the rest of the film.

6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing the product?
I have developed my understanding of final cut and how to upload, cut, delete and edit footage. I have learnt techniques like slowing, and speeding up the footage, making selected footage black and white, and trail and error in the sense of making the footage flow. These are techniques can transform the footage into a good piece of work, and help make it more effective.
I have learnt more about photoshop which we used the product our logo 'Stella Productions' . I learnt how to build the logo from layers and cut it to make it fit a frame.
I have learnt more about garage band and how to make a basic music sound track. I will develop my understanding of the software as we complete the thriller soundtrack as i feel i need to learnt more about how to fit the sound to the footage effectively.

Feedback

Cinematography:
- Hard to understand what the shots mean.
- Black and white screen cleverly shows dream.

editing:
- Short bursts of the past, interrupted by very short clips of Chloe's character in hospital. This asks questions such as why is Chloe in this situation.

Mise en scene:
- Rope swing with the tree worked well as can only see half the view.

This feedback will help us improve our opening sequence, we will take all thoughts into consideration and use them to help us.

Rough Cut

its meant to finish at 2.18

11/3/10

Today we are trying to finish our rough cut and put it into a quick time, so we can get feedback on how to improve our thriller.

We know that our rough cut is not how we want it to look, we have ideas on how to make the thriller sequence a lot better. The audio on the rough cut doesn't link its because we are sorting the sound out after the rough cut.

It would be nice to make the production logo animated but this depends on time, also to add some sound to the production logo would be good to make it seem more professional.

Today we put the sequence in a order, it may or may not be the final order. We did some editing of colour and changed the flash backs into black and white so it is easy to see that it is a flash back so it doesn't seem too confusing to the viewer. we have a lot to improve on such as credits, blends, audio,

shots for location

these are location shots, to give us a idea of what we want the thriller to look like. they might not actually be the locations but its similar.

THE EYE

This film is very similar with our thriller opening as ours is to do with a deformity with a organ, which in our case is ears. then they have a operation and it starts going wrong, like the eye does.
We will show the things going wrong through sound rather than vision.
we cant find a interview or a clip with the director talking about the film.

Entry about filming- over the weekend

We think it went, very well we got lots of footage that we could use and delete if we didn't need it. We had an idea of what we needed to film but we didn't have a official plan for what to film. We are working out what we need to film, today in the lesson. We weren't able to film in the shopping centres, so we had to find different locations to film. I think the footage we have is very well done we just need to make sure we get as much footage as possible.
